Ancient Egyptian Faience Eye of Horus Amulet. Ca.600-400 BC

Late Period, Egypt. One of the most popular amulets in Egypt, this light blue glazed faience Eye of Horus has a high relief black eye and an intact suspension loop on the side. It depicts a combination of a human and a falcon eye and it was also known as Uzat or ‘Wedjat’, meaning “Whole One”. It was the major symbol of protection, used to deflect evil, protect the deceased in the “afterlife” and also believed to have healing powers. Good Condition, intact, wearable.
